If you've ever seen Jane the Virgin, you know that Jane's mother, Xiormara, is a young, energetic, loving mother, grandmother, daughter, wife, and friend. She plays many roles in people lives, and is a great encourager, and a very strong individual who helps many people through tough times in their lives. This is only a few reasons why it was so devastating when she was diagnosed with breast cancer.

The seriousness of the story in this comedy/drama closely resembles stories from real life. It has been considered a very accurate depiction of real life events that surround cancer patients. An important lesson learned through this series is the importance of early detection and prevention. Luckily, Xiomara falls and is sent to the hospital, where she learns about the lump in her breast which is later confirmed as breast cancer. Had she not ended up in the hospital, she may have learned about her cancer far too late. This was a valuable lesson for other women regarding regular screenings.

Xiomara had a difficult decision to make concerning her course of treatment, where it was very important for her to have her family’s support, while remembering that it was in fact Xiomara’s decision as to what to do with her body. After a decision was made, Xiomara underwent surgery and began her recovery— luckily.

Please look here to see how you can get a mammogram now!

It is so important for women be regularly checked, because early detection can mean the difference between full recovery or not. Catching these things early enough, as in Xiomara’s case, can lead to much easier, and quicker measures being taken with much greater chances of positive outcomes. The sooner you know, the better. This is something that MUST be remembered! This TV series shows you exactly how important it is for you and your family to stay on top of these things. Make sure your mothers, daughters, sisters, wives, and friends are getting their mammograms.
